Dolly was the very first calf born at Blue Sky Utah. This was long before The Saving Gracie Foundation existed. Dolly’s mother was a Hereford cow and her baby was expected to be a Hereford as well. When Dolly was born a Baldy cow she was almost sent back to the breeder. I wasn’t going to let that happen. This is when the tradition of naming our cows after country western singers began. I named her Dolly Parton.
Pearl is Dolly’s first baby. She was born out in the pasture and was watched over by all of Dolly’s friends. That’s when we noticed that 4 of the steers had taken it upon themselves to watch over Pearl when Dolly was having time to herself. It was at that moment we decided those steers would have a forever home at Gracie’s.
