Not far from your room, something remarkable is going on.
Saving Gracie Equine Healing Foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit equine rescue located just minutes from where you're staying right now. Founded by the same people behind Blue Sky Lodge, we rescue horses from neglect, abuse, and abandonment — and we can’t do it without your help.
It began with a stolen horse and a lot of nerve.
Barb Phillips wasn't trying to start a nonprofit in 2013. She was trying to save a horse.
Over a hundred animals were starving just miles away. One of them — small, injured, frightened — would eventually give this foundation its name. Barb showed up, spoke up, and took responsibility on the spot.
Her act of saving Gracie was only the beginning.
Today, we’re a sanctuary for 25 horses (and growing!). We not only provide a safe home but also world-class veterinary care throughout the process of rescue, rehabilitation, and recovery.
She started it. You help sustain it.
That story didn't end in 2013. It's still going.
The horses here — rescued, rehabilitated, home for good — exist because donors keep showing up the way Barb did that day. No grand gesture required. Just a decision that these animals are worth it.
Every gift, at any size, keeps the hard work of Saving Gracie going.

Gracie, the horse whose rescue started it all. Rescued in 2014 by our very own Horse Thief.
Skittles, whose eye was saved by our amazing veterinary ophthalmologist. Rescued in 2025.
Powerhouse, who worked at Blue Sky for 6 years before retiring to Saving Gracie. Rescued in 2012.
